Health Checkup Camp at Dharavi

Health Checkup Camp at Dharavi

28th May 2016, Dharavi

Dharavi, situated in the heart of Mumbai, stands as one of the largest slums globally, providing shelter to over a million residents. The area has long grappled with dire sanitation issues, leading to the widespread transmission of diseases and significant public health concerns. Recognizing the urgent need for intervention, Minhaj Interfaith and Welfare Foundation (MIWF) collaborated with Cipla to conduct a crucial free medical checkup camp in Gopinath Colony, Dharavi.

The camp focused on providing medical assessments for conditions such as asthma, ECG abnormalities, blood pressure irregularities, and diabetes. With over 200 individuals benefiting from these comprehensive checkups, the event made a significant impact on the health and well-being of Dharavi's residents. For those with abnormal test results, appropriate medications and treatments were recommended to address their specific health concerns.

This commendable effort was made possible through the dedicated work of MIWF volunteers, including Dr. Firoz Ansari, Parvesh Baid, Satish, Ajay Mishra, and Mohsin Shaikh. Brother Zubair Ahmed played a crucial role in coordinating the entire event, ensuring its smooth execution. What's particularly heartening about this initiative is that it transcends religious boundaries, with both Muslim and Hindu volunteers and beneficiaries coming together to address a shared concern: the well-being of the Dharavi community.

Such interfaith collaboration not only helps in alleviating pressing public health issues but also fosters unity and solidarity among diverse communities, emphasizing the universal values of compassion and service. MIWF's efforts in Dharavi exemplify the positive impact that can be achieved when people from different backgrounds work together for a common humanitarian cause.
